Do they say that anymore?" I'm not sure if they do but what a great time I had shooting this commercial of the new 2012 Turbo Beetle and 2012 GTI in Seattle last month. The weather was perfect for filming with a great variety of sun and rain and everything in between, the drivers had a blast as well putting both cars through some pretty serious performance driving. The GTI commercial will be up in a week or so but have a look at the "The All New Turbo 2012 Beetle".

Many thanks to Auburn VW and all the drivers and support staff that made this shoot happen.

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v17.nonxt7.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Dfbd32f564919991e%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330461391%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D4DB406D525E87AE059A1751ED70FD5216A23781D.38B376E3B0726837BD7225DB598679FAD0E67D03%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Dfbd32f564919991e%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3D3QMclraM8oOiMnHWAJPj4mWf6sg&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

See the High Res Version on YouTube Here

New car commercial up coming

Stop back on in a few weeks from now to see the the first and latest video as I will be leaving in less than a week to shoot a new car commercial for a Seattle VW client. Well let me tell you in a physical sense nowhere but from an emotional sense quite a distance. After having owned a piece of land for several years and waiting for the right moment to come along to build a new studio and home I decided to follow my dream to build my own place. And I mean build it, not hire a contractor and pick out sub-contractors, I mean in the literal sense..... build it! So after a year of designing, digging, pouring, laying, pounding, painting and yes a small amount of screaming, OK maybe at times a fair amount of screaming...... and cursing of course, the project is finally done. One house, a new production office and a small fruit orchard later it is time for me to be back to photography full time, thank goodness as my body can't take much more physical abuse! Although I continued to shoot while building I have to admit I became quite fixated on the project and I learned a fair amount about myself during the build and an even larger amount about my wife and children's patience and love for me. You see I'm the one with the crazy idea's in our family and for their part they mostly come along on the journey, all be it from being stuck with me or for the shear amusement I'm not quite sure. All I do know is that it was a great year of learning and growth for myself and our family but I'm looking forward to going back to doing what I have loved the most in my life and that is take photographs both personal and client oriented.

See the time lapse of construction: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCp_Tj-Ck_A

What's new these days?

What do a raging infection requiring two seperate antibiotics, an attack of kidney stones, fly fishing from the back of an elephant and 25 days straight of curried goat consumtion have in common.................................. the latest shoot I maganged to complete with the help of a very large supply of Lortab and ibuprofen! This link will give you an overview of what the mssion of this great oranization is all about. I'll be donating my photographic services for all of their marketing material.

Here's the overview:

Rivers of Recovery (ROR) is a nonprofit organization. Our mission is one of healing and appreciation. We are dedicated to providing disabled veterans and the families of fallen soldiers with recreational trips to the majestic Green River, home of arguably the best fly fishing in the U.S. Beginning in June of 2008 we will be offering 2 day guided trips fishing and exploring this beautiful river

Our programs strive to achieve the following:

--Assist the participants in understanding the art of fly fishing and nourishing the self-confidence and self-esteem that comes with learning.

--Allow the participants to temporarily leave their stresses and uncertainties behind. ROR seeks to create a sanctuary where learning and enjoyment are the priorities.

--Foster an environment where veterans can interact in a fun and enjoyable setting. Each group of 4 participants will share accommodations, meals and fish together on the river.

--Provide instruction on all aspects of fishing. These acquired skills will be taken home with them, to be further developed on future trips. Our goal is to spark an enthusiasm for the outdoors in each veteran and family.

--Encourage an appreciation for nature.

--Most importantly, our programs allow the veterans and families a chance to enjoy themselves, both individually and as a member of a cohesive group.

Our program accepts each veteran as a member of our own family. Each day is structured to maximize the participant’s enjoyment and learning. After breakfast, we spend 8 hours fishing from drift boats through the spectacular Red Canyon. Through this section, the Green River holds an incredible 14,000 fish per mile! There will be opportunities to stop, sit back and relax. At mid-day, the entire group will meet up for a river-side lunch. A bar-b-que at the end of the day will offer a chance for veterans to relate stories about “the big one that got away” and receive informal instruction on knot-tying and/or fly casting.

Rivers of Recovery will provide all transportation, accommodation, instruction and fishing guides. The veteran just needs to get to the nearest major airport and we will take care of the rest!

Candidates will be received and approved on a first-come, first-served basis. Please have them e-mail Dan Cook at flyfishingtheglobe@yahoo.com and Lynda Grayzel at grayzel_1@msn.com.
